Mission Statement

To release unknown, unheralded and overlooked music from Africa's past and present has been a longtime dream of Ian Eagleson and Alex Minoff — a dream that is being realized through KANYO.

Being musicians gives KANYO's founders a unique perspective on a continent whose immense musical output is often misrepresented and misunderstood. To avoid these pitfalls, KANYO always works directly with the artists and their families and, in the great tradition of independent labels, strives for transparent accounting and generous profit sharing.

It is KANYO's mission to continue these practices all while presenting some of the most exciting and dynamic music from an exciting and dynamic continent.
